Bonfire Night - it was our annual fireworks extravaganza last night and in calm, dry weather we put on our usual high-quality display in front of a big crowd and it looks as though we have made a good profit! Thanks to Richard Poynter and his team for putting on the display with their usual expertise, to all those club members who helped plan and set up the event and organised it on the night and to all those members who turned up to support the event
There were no games last week week due to it being a free week in the RFU structured season. Games resume this week and Kick off is now 2.15 until March
On Saturday, the first team are taking on Camp Hill, who are old rivals from the era of friendly fixtures. They were our opponents in our second ever match, in 1926, when they beat us 6-5. In the period up to WW2 we played them fairly regularly, often against their 2ndXV and we won more than we lost. We started playing again in the mid 1960s, home and away, but fixtures dropped off in the 1980s with merit tables and leagues determining who we would play. Overall, we have a plus record, but we lost the last time our paths crossed in the league when in our horrible year of 2010-11we lost all our league games, Camp Hill beat us 47-0. We got our own back last season when we played thenmin the Papa John Cup in April and won 47-12. They have moved from Midlands NW to Midlands SW this season and so far they have won 5 out of 7 and are in 4th place.
The game will be proceeded by the second VP lunch of the season - 12.00 for 12.30 sit down. If you want to come and haven’t booked in, please email Derren_Nisbet@Hotmail.com or on WhatsApp at 07717795969 asap
I am not sure about the Seconds game on Saturday but efforts are being made to get a fixture. The Colts are playing at 2.00 against Kenilworth and on Sunday the U15s are playing at Rugby St Andrews and the U16s and junior sides are all training
International Tickets – We have our usual allocation of tickets for the Six Nations games at Twickenham and an application form is attached. The closing date for applications is Friday
Message from Phil McGaffin on subs - Thank you to all those who have paid their annual subs or have confirmed that a SO is in place to pay monthly. Greatly appreciated by the club and by me, as it's a few less that I have to track down. We are now into November and it would be good to get this all closed off by the end of the month. This is nearly four whole weeks for those unpaid subs to be converted into paid. There are still a decent number that remain outstanding so if you could help me out and make payment promptly, and let me or Chris Davis know that you have done so, I will be very happy. The club needs your support. If you have any queries, contact me on 07835 995161 0r by email pgaff99@gmail.com. Payment details are attached
