A weekend worth cheering
The first XV are off the mark! A 31–24 away win at Berkswell & Balsall on Saturday 17 October brought our first league victory of the season. Freddie Spencer marked his 50th appearance with two tries; Ben Parsons and Harry Healy also crossed, with Josh Tokley adding four conversions and a penalty. A 28–5 half-time lead became a much tighter finish, but Leamington held on. Apparently a comfortable afternoon would have been too much to ask.
The Colts beat Old Leamingtonians Colts 45–26 at Moorefields on Friday 16 October. On Sunday 18 October, the U14s won their home friendly against Keresley 52–36, while the Women’s XV lost 14–40 to Brackley Phoenix in a friendly at Newbold-on-Avon. The Rovers’ home friendly against Manor Park on 17 October was cancelled.
A superb result, too, for Fosse Falcons U16s: a 50–0 win against the Tamworth, Old Sils & Bournville opposition, wearing Leamington RFC kit. Congratulations to all the players and coaches!

First XV report
Saturday 24 October
1st XV v Manor Park — home at Moorefields, 3pm, Counties 1 Midlands West (South). Come along and help turn last weekend’s breakthrough into a run of form. The archive records at least six first-XV meetings, from 1989–90 to 2025–26: two Warwickshire Cup ties and four league games. In the last four, the home side won every time — a pattern we would be quite happy to preserve!
Rovers (listed as Extras) v Keresley — away at Keresley RFC, 3pm, listed as a league match. The history documents at least 15 Extras meetings with Keresley across 1971–72 to 2001–02, including a 35–0 win over their first XV in April 1972. A Keresley victory also formed part of the Extras’ 1987–88 Warwickshire Second Team Cup-winning campaign.
Colts v Nuneaton Old Edwardians Colts — away, 3pm, Warwickshire Colts Leagues; confirm the precise venue with the team. One recent meeting is securely recorded: a 19–41 away pre-season defeat on 4 September 2026. Older entries have gaps, so a reliable all-time Colts total cannot be established; records against Nuneaton RFC are kept separate.
These are recorded minimums for the specified Leamington teams, not whole-club or all-time totals. Cancelled and unplayed entries are excluded. No other weekend fixture is listed for the Spartans, Women’s XV, junior or mini teams. The diary marks Sunday 25 October as a half-term break; coaches remain the point of contact for individual arrangements.

Walking Rugby moves to Thursdays at 7pm
Walking Rugby will move to Thursday evenings at 7pm from 12 November, with access to the Minis pitch. Until then, normal training remains on Wednesday 21 October, the away games against Old Leamingtonians and Kenilworth are on Wednesday 28 October, and 4 November will be the final Wednesday training session for the winter. Please confirm the October training time and the 28 October host venue, meeting time and kick-off with the group.
Steve Harris reports that regular numbers are growing, but more players are welcome. Spread the word — and if you have not been for a while, why not give it another go? Sessions are now played at a much more relaxed pace.
