Two teams, seven games and plenty of tries
Leamington took two full teams to Old Leamingtonians on Wednesday 28 October for Walking Rugby with our hosts and Kenilworth. Everyone enjoyed the evening and, for those keeping count, we came away with five wins, one draw and one loss. Among the scorers were Simon “running” David, Bill “The Winger” Dalton and Ed “The Ten” Blunt.
Wednesday 4 November, 7–8pm, is our last Wednesday training session for the winter. From Thursday 12 November we’ll be on the Minis pitch on Thursdays at 7pm. If you haven’t played for a while, come and give the more relaxed pace a go. New players are welcome too.
Old teammates at Moorefields
Forty former Leamington players got together for dinner before the Manor Park game. It was a pleasure to see so many old teammates back together.
Colts at home on Saturday
The Colts welcome Barkers Butts Colts to Moorefields on Saturday 7 November for a Warwickshire Colts League match. Kick-off is 2pm. Leamington go into it on the back of a 43–12 friendly win at home to Bicester on Sunday, with Harry Blunt crossing twice.
Barkers were the opposition when Leamington’s first Colts side took the field on 31 January 1959. We lost 28–0 that day. The club archive records at least 46 meetings played by our Colts against Barkers sides from 1958/59 to 2025/26, excluding their B side. The 2024/25 season shows why a rematch is always worth watching: after losing the league game 43–12, Leamington beat Barkers 36–32 in the county cup quarter-final.
The first XV lost 71–19 at Old Leamingtonians on Saturday 31 October. Louis Harvey scored twice and Freddie Spencer got our third try.
