Rain Stops play at Malvern…. and Moorefields Colts lose narrowly at Butts 3.00 Kick-off this week Ists home to Evesham

The first team’s annual coach trip to Malvern looked like it was going to be more of a booze cruise until Malvern called the game off because of a wet pitch. Only one game was played in our division with Stratford winning at Southam. The second team game at home to Kenilworth was also called off because our pitches were unplayable.

The Colts managed to switch their Warwickshire Cup tie against Barkers Butts to Meriden and they lost narrowly by 12-5 which is a huge improvement on their 52-3 loss to the Butts a few months ago and they could easily have won the game. Sam Biggs scored our try.

The postponements are causing some chaos on the fixture list with Malvern, for instance, now being 3 league games behind with cup matches to squeeze in as well. We have two games to make up and the first of these will be against Evesham this Saturday which was previously reserved as a free week. The Malvern game is now scheduled for 25 April.

Also on Saturday, the Seconds are playing at Shipston and the Colts are at home to Berkswell & Balsall. Please note that now we are into March, normal kick off time is 3.00

Sunday games were also disrupted at the weekend but hopefully everyone will be back in action this week. It was planned to stage a Warwickshire Under 15 and Under 18 tournament Sunday, but this has been moved elsewhere onto artificial pitches because of the uncertainties of the weather. The mini sides are all at Claverdon and the U13,14 and 16s are at Rugby St Andrews.
