Dodgy Email
Some members received an email via Pitchero yesterday, allegedly from President Dave Ward asking them to email a given address. This was an impersonation and should be ignored. We have contacted Pitchero and they are investigating how this came through the system and they advise us that they don't think individuals have been compromised
Rugby’s Coming Home
There is no news yet from the RFU on the return of normal rules but we are hopeful of hearing something about this and social distancing soon and things now seem to be gathering pace as we approach the new season.
This Saturday we are holding a club social and all are welcome. The aim is to get people together in a Rugby environment and to remember the members and past members who have died during the Covid period, namely - Norman David, Maurice Goymer, Terry Wheeldon, Barrie Hopkinson, Bobby Solt, Pascal Jeavons, Jim Drury, Vinny McGreevy, Rex Montgomery, Sandy Galloway, John Lyne, John Wilson and Colin Beeston. My apologies if I have missed anyone
Dave Ward our club president will be organising the event which will be very informal and is outlined below
• Event to start around 2.00
• The bar will be open indoor and out
• Food will be available throughout and there will be a BBQ meal available towards the evening
• Live music will played
• A Rugby tournament will be held during the afternoon
• There will be a 200 Club draw
• TV will be on
The tournament will be played as a version of Touch Rugby and fun and safety will be our objectives. The winners will receive the very prestigious Memorial Trophy. Teams will be 7 – 10 players or thereabouts depending on who tuns up. A number of sides are being assembled, including First and Second team players, Colts, possibly parents and veterans and Barry Hopkinson’s old side (The Cougars) who are coming up from London. If you want to raise a side you can do so, or if you want to slot into one of the teams already forming please contact Dave Ward direct or you can email me at the address below and I will pass the details on.
Alex Makes it to the Top
Alex Carroll completed his charity walk up Snowdon at the weekend and swears that he walked all the way and didn’t sneak a ride on the mountain railway. This was to raise funds for a pupil at school who has an incurable brain tumour (she’s only 8 years old) and a past pupil who has just been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Alex has asked me to pass on his thanks to everyone who has donated - they have helped make a huge difference to the lives of two people they have never met through their exceptional generosity and it shows what a fantastic rugby club this is. It is not too late to contribute and the giving link is repeated below.

Working Party
On the following Saturday (24 July) we are planning a working party to tidy up certain parts of the ground, commencing at 9.00 and going through the day. Please dig out your shovels and come along and help. More details next week
Security - Travellers
More Travellers have arrived in the area and we hear that they are Warwick Racecourse. We therefore remain on hight alert and need to be vigilant in locking the security bar and gates and we may need to cancel some activities depending on circumstances. If you hear anything please let us know.
