Bromsgrove postponed Seconds Beat the Bold Old Leamingtonians this week – Waether permitting 200 Club Its Chriiiiiiissssstmasssss

Jack Frost was the winner on Saturday when the first team game had to be called off on the day – as were all the games on our league. The VP lunch went ahead and everyone remained afterward to watch the second team game at home to Newbold in the Warwickshire League and a good game it was.

Newbold had beaten us comfortably, earlier in the season, so we knew it was going to be a tough return fixture and after an early converted try by fly-half Brad James, to a penalty against, we pulled away with centre Jim Reed causing loads of damage to the Bold defence and scoring a hat trick either side of half time. Brad got our final try on the whistle and he added 4 conversions to his 2 tries in a 33-3 win.

Weather permitting, this week we are due to complete our pre-Christmas games with a treck across the field to Old Leamingtonians. The OLs have made a significant improvement since we beat them at the end of September and they have won 6 games in a row, including a win at league leaders Berkswell & Balsall. We will need to be on our best form to win

The first team game is due to kick-off at 2.15 on Saturday and the second string are playing on Friday night at, 7.00, both games at Bericote Lane. We are assuming at this point that the games will be on, but if we hear that they are not we will try and get the message round. We are intending to open the club on Saturday come what may.

The 200 Club Christmas draw was made at the VP lunch and the lucky winners were - £500 Andy White, £250 Jane Reeve, £100 Owen David, £50 Toni Reszka and £50 Lucy Ramsbottom. There is a quarterly draw and if you want to get into the next one, please contact Kit Forrest on 07748 658086 or kit.forrest951@gmail.com

It's Chriiiiiiissssstmasssss! Our plea for Christmas sponsorship or gifts has resulted in more success by the very generous donation of an electronic scoreboard by ex-first team player, Simon (the Beast) Roper and a new hoover from Tony Barton . We have now also received a donation for a VEO camera which will enable us to video club games and will replace our current kit. The donor wishes to remain anonymous and we respect this and thank them for their generosity. If you can assist with any item, please contact Richard Watkins, Gareth Wilkinson or Phil McGaffin via - info@leamingtonrugby.co.uk
