With great sadness we can confirm that on Monday morning at the club Dick passed away as a result of a suspected heart attack, despite the very best efforts of the club members who discovered him and the full force of the local ambulance service he could not be saved.
Dick arrived at the club in the early 90s accompanied by a small blond haired scamp in his son Tom and in truth throughout the next 30 odd years they could often be spotted together around Moorefields.
Dick having completed his shift supporting Tom through the M&J section later took on the role of 1st team linesman following the team which regularly featured Tom home and away.
He went on to join the Tuesday volunteer group as the resident chainsaw specialist trimming, felling and portioning troublesome trees around the club and creating a log store that was the envy of many of us.
Dick was universally liked around the club, I will certainly miss his sage Yorkshire wisdom and tales of schoolboy and club rugby in the north of England.
As funeral details become available we will share them as no doubt there will be many people who have been associated with the club during Dick’s time with us who would be keen to pay their respects.
In the meantime the clubs thoughts and condolences are offered to Sue, Tom, Sally and their wider family.
