The big day had arrived - the reverse fixture hadn't gone well but today was another game.
Tank Commander under the weather (a touch of man flu we here, but not too serious) and struggling to count the players - and we haven't got that many. Leamington with a couple of key players short due to illness would need to be at their plucky best for this one.
Referlee managed to impress with his warm-up routine in particular his sprints; one wag (carrying a first aid bag) quipped his acceleration was analogous to a one cylinder Trabant - surely not?
The game kicked off with a bright start for Leamington with passing and moving starting to come together. Early pressure paid off with two early tries and a 12 point lead - things were definitely looking up. But not for long. OLs making changes and with a new focus rose to the challenge and responded with 17 points before the half-way mark - game now shaping up nicely.
The wind more of a nuisance than a help, to both teams, but good open rugby being played by all.
The second half saw more action at both ends with Leamington scoring and OLs replying - in fact OLs started replying out of turn and not waiting for Leamington to score. OLs with the luxury of rotating their team and their strong runners swaying the balance of play and completing a 36 - 24 victory.
Highlight of the half was Max holding up a seemingly certain try. Apparently, Hazza has been pegged on a washing line and needs to be let down? Is this rugby banter???
A far better contest between these teams, compared with their last meeting, but still some work to do.
