Mothers day and an early kick-off to appease mom's all over the country - except those on the touchline, apparently.
Good to see the Tank Commander taking charge from the touch-line, instead of in the centre, and even more pleasing to see three Leamington subs - a novelty for this season.
The game kicked off with Max introducing himself to the opposition backs with an opening salvo of runs bursting inside, outside and straight down the line. An early lead built before the game settled down to some routine.
A tough physical encounter ensued with Leamington losing some discipline - the Ref giving clear and unequivocal advice (bravo and always pleasing to note). The scoreline not reflecting the hard work and effort defending against a determined opposition.
The second half saw a better team performance with some well crafted tries as the ball was sent down the line (which had the coaches rather excited). Hazza and his snake hips; Thomas and his try saving tackle; George and his first try; George's Dad for the Villaesque pitch invasion - it was enough for the Tank Commander to go all Jabberwocky on us with "scrurdly dubri furkin" - well, at least the kids understand him.
A tough game and a good victory - thank you Earlsdon for a tough but enjoyable game.
A final word from the Tank Commander - he'll be noting all those without shirt and club tie at the next game. Miscreants will be named and shamed with a fine (for parents) going towards the club tour.
Bacon Bard.
